Introduction
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my efolio. I received my Master of Public Health in May 2006 from San Francisco State University. This professional portfolio demonstrates the immense impact the MPH program has had on my professional and personal life.
Prior to embarking on the journey to attain my MPH, I was a middle school teacher who was subconsciously moved by social justice work. It was not until two of my younger cousins were killed by a drunk driver that I realized my passion and need to gain a voice in advocacy and policy work. My work today, as a Field Representative for a State Assemblyman, is driven by my personal experience and grounded in my Masters education.
Through my work regarding African-American youth and suicide and universal health coverage for Californian children, I have developed a strong desire to advocate for policy change through a public health framework. This portfolio demonstrates the work I have done in these areas as well as my skills as a public health practitioner.
